Berks Area Psychological Society
Mission Statement
Matt Shollenberger, Ph.D., President

Advancing the profession and science of psychology
“The purpose of the society is to advance the profession
and science of psychology, to promote ethical standards
of conduct; to protect and advance the interests and
general welfare of its members; and to establish and
maintain helpful and friendly relations.”

The society exists to provide a forum for professional
networking, continuing education, and advocacy
functions in the county and the state. It seeks to offer a
resource for peer consultation, for identifying referral
resources and to identify additional service resources in
the region.

The society arranges periodic meetings, and social
gatherings, offers continuing education credits and
opportunities to develop new professional relationships
and new professional skills, and offers a venue for peer
consultation to discuss clinical and professional issues.

The society is exploring avenues to increase active
participation of its current membership, to attract new
members among area professionals, and to increase
communication with other professionals in the region,
including but not limited to school psychologists,
licensed clinical social workers, certified addictions
counselors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and students
of psychology. Additionally, the society is seeking to
increase communication with the media, by offering to
liaison with media representatives.
